The Best Time to Move in Dubai (and the Worst)

Dubai's moving calendar is far more seasonal than most residents realise, and when you move affects both what you pay and how smoothly the day goes. The difference between the best and worst timing is commonly 20 to 30 percent on price, and considerably more on stress.

Here is how the year actually breaks down.

Avoid the last week of the month

Dubai tenancy contracts overwhelmingly begin and end on month boundaries, which concentrates an enormous share of the city's moves into the final week of each month. Crews book out, service-lift slots are contested, and prices firm up with demand.

Moving between the 5th and the 20th of a month gets you better availability, more flexible scheduling and, at most companies, a better price for identical work. If your tenancy dates allow any flexibility at all, this is the easiest saving available.

The seasonal picture

PeriodDemandWhat to expect
October – DecemberVery highPeak season. Perfect weather, school year settled, highest prices. Book 2–3 weeks ahead.
January – MarchHighExcellent conditions, strong availability early in the month. The best overall window.
April – MayModerateWarming up but workable. Good availability and good pricing.
June – AugustLowPeak heat. Cheapest and easiest to book, but requires early-morning scheduling.
SeptemberRisingSchool year starts, family moves surge. Book early.

Moving during a Dubai summer

Between June and August, daytime temperatures routinely exceed 45°C, and UAE law mandates a midday break for outdoor workers through the peak summer months. That is not an obstacle so much as a scheduling requirement: summer moves start at 6 or 7am and complete the loading before the worst of the heat.

There are real advantages. Crews are more readily available, prices are at their lowest, buildings are quieter, and service-lift slots are easy to secure. What you must not do is store furniture in a non-cooled unit over a Dubai summer — warped wood, cracked leather and mould in upholstery are the predictable results.

Days of the week

  • Monday to Wednesday: the easiest days to book and the quietest in most buildings.
  • Thursday: popular, because it gives a full weekend to unpack. Book ahead.
  • Friday and Saturday: the most requested slots of the week. Some buildings restrict weekend moves entirely, others prefer them — check yours.
  • Sunday: good availability, and the standard choice for office relocations completing over a weekend.

Timing around Ramadan

Moves during Ramadan are entirely workable but need adjusted scheduling. Working hours are shortened, traffic patterns shift significantly towards the late afternoon before iftar, and buildings are quieter during the day.

Early morning starts work best, and avoid scheduling loading or transit in the two hours before iftar — that is the most congested period on Dubai's roads by a wide margin.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest month to move in Dubai?

July and August are consistently the cheapest, because demand falls sharply during the peak summer heat while capacity stays the same. The trade-off is that moves must start early in the morning. Outside summer, mid-month dates in any month are cheaper than month-end dates.

Is it a bad idea to move in the Dubai summer?

Not at all, provided the move starts early. Crews begin at 6 or 7am and complete loading before peak heat. You get lower prices, better availability and quieter buildings. The one thing to avoid is non-climate-controlled storage over the summer, which damages wooden and leather furniture.

How far in advance should I book a month-end move?

Two to three weeks. The final week of every month is the busiest period in Dubai's moving calendar, and both crews and building service-lift slots are contested. Mid-month moves can often be booked three to five days ahead.
